Chargeback-proof product pages

Every not-as-described dispute is a comparison: what the page promised vs what arrived. The page is testifying either for you or against you — and it was written months ago.

The pre-BFCM page audit: claims that survive adversarial reading (every superlative is a promise a disputer will quote), photography that matches shipped reality (color accuracy, scale context, variant correctness), specs that are measured rather than copied from suppliers, and sizing guidance prominent enough to be binding. Accurate pages both prevent 13.3 disputes and win them — the order-date listing snapshot is the case, so make it a page you want an issuer analyst reading.

The page audit

Read each top-SKU page as a hostile disputer:

  • Claims: every 'premium', 'professional-grade', 'lasts forever' is a standard your product gets graded against by someone motivated to fail it. Keep the claims you can evidence; cut the reflexive superlatives.
  • Photos: color-accurate (screen-vs-reality is a top SNAD trigger), scale-contexted (the miniature-product surprise), and variant-correct (the photo showing the deluxe version on the basic listing is a dispute subsidy).
  • Specs: measured by you, not pasted from a supplier sheet. Supplier-sheet dimensions being wrong is a dropshipping-tier dispute source at every tier.
  • Sizing: chart adjacent to the buy button, not buried — prominence is what makes it binding in review.

Pages as evidence

The 13.3 standard is the listing *as of the order date* — which means your page audit is literally evidence preparation: the version BFCM customers order against is the version defending those orders in January's dispute wave.

Two mechanics: freeze meaningful page edits before peak (mid-sale spec changes create order-cohorts you can't cleanly evidence), and ensure order-date listing capture is running — a page you improved in December can't defend a November order unless the November version was archived. Aurai snapshots listing state per order automatically, which makes the audit's output durable.

Frequently asked questions

Do product page claims really affect disputes?

Directly — not-as-described disputes are graded against your own copy. Superlatives you can't evidence are standards you'll fail in review; measured accuracy is a defense you wrote in advance.

Should I edit product pages during BFCM?

Avoid meaningful spec/claim edits mid-peak — each version creates an order cohort needing its own evidence. Audit and freeze before traffic, capture per-order state throughout.
